There are three play areas in Poochies & Mutts, which total over 8000 square feet. They are all enclosed so we can have playtime everyday all year long!  Each play area is staffed with one or two trained staff members anytime more than one dog is present!
They are heated and air-conditioned for the comfort of all!
The dogs are separated according to size and temperament.
The pens are introduction pens. They are used to slowly introduce one dog to another and eventually one dog to the group. They give us the opportunity to evaluate each dog’s temperament and separate those dogs that may have social problems. They also allow the dogs to calmly greet (smell) the new dog waiting to enter. The pens also serve as time-out pens if a dog becomes overly rambunctious.
The Shepherd’s Staff is a tool used to gently redirect one dog’s behavior away from another dog. It may also be used more aggressively to separate two dogs showing signals of aggression. It goes were no arm or leg should ever go!  Serious Dogfights are rare but possible. The water hoses along the walls are used to break them up. Employees carry portable radios so they can call for help if needed.

The floors are sealed with “Xypex” and the walls are sealed with epoxy paint. All plays areas are disinfected with trifectant and are pressure washed daily!

There is an indoor waterfall and wading pond and toys.
Dogs that are boarding receive an average of six hours of Free playtime daily! Generally, Play Time is 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM / 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM is Nap Time / 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM is Play Time Again! You can view this on our web camera @ www.poochiesandmutts.com/video.html
